JOE LIRENTI
I’m a 27-year-old artist based in São Paulo, Brazil, working across music, photography, body, and space. My approach is shaped by context and collaboration — starting from atmosphere, process, and concept rather than fixed outcomes. My work moves between mediums and follows a set of recurring themes: texture, decay, and the tension between structure and looseness.
Each project — whether mixing a record, tattooing, scoring a film, or building a zine — acts as a vessel for something specific, often fragile or unresolved. I’m drawn to dissonance and distortion, not as style, but as ways of expressing vulnerability. I often collaborate with artists in different countries, responding to shifting conditions — environmental, psychological, and formal.

I started producing and mixing music in 2015, initially working on my own compositions. From the beginning, mixing was never just technical — it was part of how I shaped feeling and structure, using space, EQ, and texture as expressive tools. In 2021, I transitioned into mixing as a professional practice, drawn to its ability to transform emotional tone. That same year, I became part of Melt Motif — my most significant project to date — where I now co-compose, produce, and mix.
Today, my work centers around dark hybrid electronic music — a broad umbrella for emotionally charged, genre-blurring sound. My mixes aim for a kind of sonic impressionism: focused on sensory and emotional response rather than technical rigidity. Moving forward, I’m expanding into film, zines, and installations — formats where sound can become spatial and embodied — while continuing to support artists in the darker edges of electronic music, where I feel most at home.
