JOE LIRENTI

I’m a 27-year-old artist based in São Paulo, Brazil, working across music, tattoo, events and photography. My approach is shaped by context and collaboration — starting from atmosphere, process, and concept rather than fixed outcomes. My work moves between mediums and follows a set of recurring themes: texture, decay, and the tension between structure and intuition.

I’m drawn to dissonance and distortion, not as style, but as ways of expressing vulnerability. I often collaborate with artists in different countries, responding to shifting conditions — environmental, psychological, and formal.

I created and produced the first ambient and alternative electronic music festival in Suzano, SP, supported by the Aldir Blanc cultural incentive law. The event took place at Parque Max Feffer — the city’s main public venue — and transformed it into an immersive artistic intervention that blended experimental music, visual arts, and community engagement.

The festival featured four performances, including two unique collaborations between artists who had never played together before (Aline Vieira & Maria Anália, Satiê & Dharma Jhaz), alongside solo acts by myself and Tom Monteiro. A large-scale sustainable scenography, with a 10x16m fabric installation, panels, and elevated seating, reshaped the audience’s perspective and use of the park.

An interactive workshop on improvised instruments engaged around 30 participants for over an hour, merging with an open discussion about experimental sound practices. While the performances attracted a circulating audience in the park and generated high-quality audio, photo, and video documentation.

This project stands out as a pioneering cultural initiative in the region, inspiring young creators to develop their own events and expanding access to experimental music and art beyond the metropolitan circuit.

OCASO was a two-part ambient music series held on a rooftop in downtown São Paulo, produced by myself and Aline Vieira under the Meia Vida label. Each edition unfolded on a Sunday at sunset, blending live performances with late afternoon coffee  into a single atmospheric experience.

Both editions followed a curatorial arc that began with more acoustic or organic acts and gradually transitioned into electronic sets, mirroring the fading daylight. The lineup featured local artists from São Paulo and Curitiba, including Aline Vieira, Joe Lirenti, Dharma Jhaz, Mari Herzer, Tom Monteiro, Sarine (from Deafkids and Teto Preto), Lorena Hollander, and Yantra (also from Deafkids). DJ sets were presented by mAdvil (first edition), and by Joe Lirenti and Aline Vieira (second edition).

Hosted at Laje, an independent rooftop space in the city center, the events ran from 5 to 9 p.m. and featured a carefully curated coffee table by Festim Gastronomia, including homemade cake, hand-brewed coffee, and sandwiches — chosen to reflect the warmth and intimacy of the moment.
