JOE LIRENTI
I’m a 27-year-old artist based in São Paulo, Brazil, working across music, photography, body, and space. My approach is shaped by context and collaboration — starting from atmosphere, process, and concept rather than fixed outcomes. My work moves between mediums and follows a set of recurring themes: texture, decay, and the tension between structure and looseness.
Each project — whether mixing a record, tattooing, scoring a film, or building a zine — acts as a vessel for something specific, often fragile or unresolved. I’m drawn to dissonance and distortion, not as style, but as ways of expressing vulnerability. I often collaborate with artists in different countries, responding to shifting conditions — environmental, psychological, and formal.

Solo investigations at the intersection of music, tattoo, and photography. These take shape as zines and albums — small-run, hand-assembled, and built from fragments. I work with texture, memory and decay. Sometimes it’s the image that drives the sound, sometimes the other way around. None of it is meant to resolve clearly. I let the work explain itself.

02 MUSIC PRODUCTION & MIX ENGINEERING
Discography - mostly works in dark hybrid electronic music — projects where I’ve been invited not just to produce or mix, but to help shape the sound from the inside. I tend to work closely with artists and bands, often blurring the line between technician and co-author. The mix is rarely neutral, it’s built to reflect the ideas behind the music, to hold the emotional weight of the lyrics, or push against them when needed.

03 EXTENDED PRACTICE: RESIDENCIES, STUDIO & PHOTOGRAPHY
Parts of my work that fall outside usual labels: I’ve taken part in artistic residencies as a way to rethink pace, environment, and how sound interacts with the world around it, shifting my approach toward more site-responsive, time-sensitive forms of composition. At Sala Secreta, my studio, I support local artists with space to rehearse, record, and develop projects from the ground up. I also keep a personal photography practice — analog and digital — focused on texture and contrast, that mirrors the experimental tone of my music and how I think about structure, mood, and detail.

04 MUSIC FOR FILM
Though still in its early stages, this section presents my work for video. The music is electronic, experimental and textural — made to carry tension or open space more than to follow story cues. I’m especially interested in working with projects in horror, surrealism, fashion, animation, or anything that lets sound play a stranger role.

05 CULTURAL EVENTS
I produce small-format music events that lean into slowness, subtlety, and attention. Most are focused on ambient and experimental music — sometimes indoors, sometimes open-air. The idea is always to create a setting where listening becomes the main activity.
