JOE LIRENTI

I'm a São Paulo-based artist and mixing engineer whose work explores the friction between texture, decay, and structure. My practice is shaped by atmosphere and process rather than fixed outcomes.

I move between music, tattoo, photography, tactile media and events, focusing on the expression of vulnerability through dissonance and distortion. I frequently collaborate with international artists, responding to shifting environmental and psychological conditions.

MUSIC FOR FILM

PILGRIM (ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK)

Composed and Produced by Melt Motif:
Joe Lirenti & Kenneth Rasmus Greve
The soundtrack for Pilgrim is built around atmosphere and tension, using layered synthesis, off-grid rhythms, and evolving motifs to mirror the film’s surreal pace. Avoiding traditional scoring structure, the music leans into unease and momentum, supporting the imagery without explaining it. The film is currently in post-production, but the full soundtrack has been available for streaming since April 2024. In this project I arranged the whole album/OST, recorded extra instrumental layers giving cohesion to Kenneth's loops and Rakel's vocals, and mixed everything.

Directed by Erik Ferguson, Pilgrim is a long-form visual project that blends cinematic dream logic with dense surreal  imagery. Ferguson’s previous work includes Fantastic Fungi (Netflix), Rihanna’s MTV VMA performance, and collaborations with Gorillaz, St. Vincent, Alan Walker, Steve Aoki, The Horrors, and ZHU — whose “Dreams” video earned a New Directors’ Showcase award from Ridley Scott.

FALHA

Produced by Joe Lirenti
Vocals and Lyrics by Victor Meira
Composed by Victor Meira, Sandro Gavidea and Joe Lirenti

The music for Falha was conceived as a narrative-driven work, layering synthesizers, drum machines, and clean melodic vocals to explore human vulnerability in the age of AI. Born from early melodic demos, the songs took shape through Victor Meira’s lyrics — reflecting on errors, and the fragility of our digital selves.

Though not written for a traditional film, the production followed a soundtrack-like process: each track was treated as a scene, with a specific emotional intent, creating a world of romanticism, melancholy, and cybernetic doubt.

For this project, I produced, mixed, and mastered the entire work, sculpting timbres and atmosphere to mirror its concepts.
